Children's Intensive Caring

Michael Pappas, MD

Dr. Mike is a pediatrician who is originally from the Toledo area. He has experience treating children with heart defects, severe infections, cancer, seizure disorders, injuries from car/bike accidents, as well as a number of other childhood diseases. Dr. Mike is certified by the American board of Pediatrics to practice both general pediatrics and pediatric critical care.

Dr. Mike has worked in the PICU of Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, and Mercy Children’s Hospital in Toledo.  Additionally, he was the Medical Director of the PICU at Mercy Children’s Hospital prior to going into private practice.

Dr. Mike has co-authored Intensive Thinking: Pediatric Critical Care, a review book that teaches pediatricians how to care for critically ill children, and assist them in passing their board exams. He has also co-authored Pediatric Radiology Review, an instructional text teaching pediatric clinicians how to interpret x-rays in children.

He works at Toledo Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, as well as here in our pediatric office. He is very kind and caring. He has 2 daughters.

M. Cristina Saucedo, CPNP

Cristy has been with us since inception. She completed her Master’s degree in the spring of 2007, from the Medical University of Toledo, graduating magna cum laude. She is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She currently attends The University of Toledo Medical Center for a Doctorate in Nursing. Cristy has been working here since 2001, and is happy, witty, and very motivated. She has 2 girls.

Amy Spangler, CPNP

Amy is a graduate of University of Michigan with a Master’s of Science Degree in Infant, Child, and Adolescent Health. She is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Before joining our office Amy worked at the Toledo Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department as a nurse practitioner. She is an associate professor of pediatric nursing at Lourdes college. she joined us here in May, 2003. she is highly intelligent, diligent, and laid back. Amy has 3 boys.

Michelle Miller, CPNP

Micelle is a board certified pediatric nurse practitioner, who joined us in September, 2006. She is a graduate of the Medical University of Ohio, graduating magna cum laude. Michelle is a pediatric clinical instructor for nursing at Owens Community College.  She had previously been a pediatric nurse, working both in the private pediatric setting and hospital setting. She is smart, thorough, positive, and full of energy. She has a boy and a girl.

Victoria Bernsdorff, RN

Vickie has been with us since we first started. She is a registered nurse with 18 years of experience. She coordinates our events and manages as the office administrator. She is a very happy and positive person. She is married and the active mother of 4 children.

Francisco Saucedo, AS, MA

Frank joined us in April, 2008 as a pediatric-medical assistant. He has an associate degree of science and is attending Lourdes College for pre-med. He aspires to become a Physician’s Assistant.  He is also very talented in the area of computer technology and maintains all the offices internal systems. He is a very jovial and friendly person, a fast learner, and loves the kids. He has one very happy and lovable mini-dachshund.

Amanda Haldeman, BSN, RN

Amanda blessed us with her presence in December, 2009, as a pediatric-medical assistant. She has completed her Bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She is sweet, loving, gentle and hard working. She has 3 pleasantly plump cats named Bubba, Poomba, and Snax.

Kathleen Nowak, BS, RN

Kathleen joined us as a nurse in November, 2010. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Toledo, as well as a nursing degree from Mercy College. She has been a pediatric nurse for over 15 years. She is bubbly, fun, happy and witty. She is married and has 2 girls and 2 boys.

Marissa Patrisso, SN

Marissa joined the fun in June, 2011 as student nurse/pediatric assistant. She is attending Lourdes College for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is intelligent, and very personable.

Latoya Alexander, AS

Latoya joined us in August, 2009, as our main reception and coordination person. She has an associate’s degree, and is pursuing her Bachelors’ degree in business management. She is very friendly, smart and people oriented. She has 2 children.

Nicole Harkey, MA

Nicole Harkey became part of our family in April, 2011. She is a pediatric-medical assistant and a receptionist.  She is a very happy and polite person. Nicole has two son’s.

Vicky Sterling

Vicky joined us in October, 2008 as our billing director. She has worked in medical billing for 21 years, and loves being a detective with insurance rejections to get the claims paid. She is detail oriented, helpful, and always happy, and has brought a lot of professionalism to us. She has 3 children, 4 beautiful grandchildren, and 2 very spoiled dogs.

Rio Bernsdorff

Rio Bernsdorff started working here in 2009. She is currently attending PCC in Pensacola, Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a Minor in Instrumental Education. During the summer and winter breaks Rio is found hard at work doing clerical work. Rio is kind, caring and everyone loves her big smile.
